Prior to establishing Burgdahl & Graves, Russell gained professional experience in architectural design through 13 years of practice in Louisiana, advancing from Intern to Associate, to Junior Partner, and then to Principal-in-Charge of Design. He also served tenure with the Orleans Parish School Board as an Assistant Coordinator in the Architectural Services Department, helping develop programs and coordinate new designs for many school facilities. Russell and Steve formed Burgdahl & Graves Architects in 1982, a firm that has grown steadily for the past 28 years.
As President of Burgdahl & Graves, Mr. Burgdahl serves as Principal-In-Charge of Design, Marketing, and Administration of the firm. Recent major clients include the State of Louisiana, Jefferson Parish, the City of New Orleans, New Orleans Aviation Board, Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Tammany Parish School Boards, Archdiocese of New Orleans, Church of Latter Day Saints, A&P, Rite-Aid, K&B, and Applebee’s Restaurants.
